We have an xDrive40M on my floor this color, and I fall in love with it a bit more every day...

You besides the fact that its not a coupe, or an suv, or a wagon, or a hatch but is instead some kind of unholy cobbling together of terrible marketing ideas?

It’s made well, and drives well.
Great car in theory, but I hate the “Coupe SUV” idea, so an X3 (or even 3-Series wagon) would make infinitely more sense to me.
Nice car ruined by not-so-nice design choices.

Doesn’t even have a useful space in back like my CRV, I got a big ass mattress folded in the back.

If I was given one tomorrow morning I think I’d take it to my small town Chrysler dealer to trade it in. I don't think I'd bother driving it to a better dealership further away.

Honestly, I don’t hate it. But, I’d prefer a TRUE ///M version, which I’m sure is coming.
I just think they should have called it a Sport Utility Sedan (or in BMW’s case, a Sport Activity Sedan) instead of an SUC/SAC.
Also, have I mentioned that I actually like that BMW doesn’t use Sport Utility, but rather Sport Activity. It just fits them better, especially the ///M models.

Honestly it’s a good car. Not quite the most sporty or spacious or pretty but it’s not a bad vehicle. If given the option I’d take the x3 first. But it’s certainly a conversation starter

It’s all a matter of opinion there I guess. It just looks a bit too fussy for me. Creases everywhere and disproportionate distribution of detail all round. I can see why people like it though, it’s just not my type of styling.

This whole useless niche drives me nuts. Let’s just make this sedan drive worse, get worse mileage, and remove a bunch of cargo room, also lets make sure the wheels and tires are completely incapable of being used off road.

That’s not true. I enjoy large American cars, rotary engines, sports cars, weird cars, inline sixes, lifted new beetles ;) and the list goes on. I just didn't listen to the advice about keeping negative thoughts to yourself.
This car just hits a trifecta of things I hate. Modern BMW, useless, gaudy.

I actually really like these for some reason. The SUV coupe trend is absurd but dammit if that’s not what makes it so entertaining.
An M6 or S65 seems almost humble and sensible compared to the excess that is the X6M or GLE63 coupe. I think that's the best part about them.

The X3 is on my radar too, but the xDrive35i with M-Sport Package is just that. Its an X3 with the package. As where the X4 xDriveM40 is a bit more cohesive in its M-Ness.

The creases work better in person. I will 100% agree that the car looks overwrought in pictures but athletic in person. That being said, I know an SUV with compromised utility is a boggle of a decision, but I lifted a Beetle. So I’m obviously not all there.

Honestly, I used to be the same way. But since lifting the Beetle, I have a whole new outlook on something that is tall, stylish, and fast. This car is kind of like what my car might be if it was made by real engineers and not a part-time parts guy/ part-time salesman.

Yeah, I’ve seen a few myself and kind of know what you mean. It has some presence, and looks better than people give it credit for. It’s just not my style of design.

I would absolutely take an X6M over an M6 for the absurd factor alone. It’s the same reason I’d take a Colorado SS with the ATS-V engine over an actual ATS-V any day.

When you say mini-SUVs, do you mean anything not X5 based or do you mean the fastbacks?

Ok fair. However the wheels and tires still kill it for me. Not that they look bad, just that they’re way too impractical. Huge diameter, very wide, high load and speed ratings, all adding up to short life and expensive replacements. And of course the aforementioned useless off road ability. I know, wheels and tires can be changed easily, but if I by a new car the last thing I want to do is change the wheels and tires. And aftermarket wheels on BMW and Mercedes make doing an alignment a royal PITA.

I think the SUV/crossover is a sign of excess in and of itself. One only really needs a sedan or wagon but rather people are buying the SUV instead of the midsize sedan when they trade in their compact sedan.
It then only goes to follow that the most lavish and extravagant of luxury cars wouldn’t be a S600 Mercedes Maybach, but rather a G500 4x4 2 which it is lol
A big luxury sedan feels old money, a stupid powerful SUV coupe feels new money.

The blue is nice, but it’s not what I’d want if I was buying a BMW. Out of the current BMW USA line up only the 2 and 6 series are appealing to me.

Ah, was unaware you couldn’t get the x3 in that trim.
By the way, I saw an x5 and an x3 next to each other in the showroom and they’re almost the same size now. Not sure if you know the technical specs, but in my mind they had a much more significant difference.

I hate it. It's got all the drawbacks of a coupe and SUV, and none of the perks. And they couldn't even manage to make it pretty for the bother.
